The WISH Appeal – Where Independence Starts at Home

The WISH Appeal (Where Independence Starts at Home) was launched in April 2005. The initial objective of the appeal was to raise monies to develop existing accommodation into independent living flats. The money for this project was raised in full by 2006. Service users have gained many new skills from the experience of living a more independent life.

Due to the demand for services the project has continued to raise monies. In the summer of 2010 we opened a further bungalow within the grounds of Lincolnshire House. This accommodation provides four further beds. There are two beds for respite care and two beds for residential care. The respite and residential each has its own independent entrance so the services can be kept separate. Both facilities will have two single bedrooms with en-suites to include both a shower and a bath, there is a kitchen and dining room in each unit.

In March 2014 we saw the completion of phase 7, this included an extension to a residential bungalow (Stanley Court) , extension to the activities building and a further activities building was built (Norman Peet Centre).

We have now completed the revamp on Woodlands and Genesis. This project cost £200,000 which has been raised through the WISH Appeal. Two new bedrooms have been built and the other four bedrooms have been extended. All rooms have up to date overhead hoists leading from the bedrooms to the en-suites. In their en-suites all rooms have toilets, baths and showers. The residents now have privacy with these enhanced facilities. All bedrooms at Lincolnshire House now have private facilities.

We are currently raising funds to improve our independent living flats and administration building. There are currently three independent living flats, which were installed during the first build of the centre. Our aim is to create new purpose built independent living flats with communal spaces and modernisation throughout.

Our administration building is currently only accessible by stairs or by lift. We plan to create a new purpose built administration building within the grounds of Lincolnshire House that will be user friendly and accessible by all.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our projects. If you are interested in using the quality services which Lincolnshire House provides please contact Belinda Parrington or Ria Wilkinson, Assistant Manager on 01724 844168, Ext 221 who will be happy to provide further information.
